Adjusting to a Three Year Old!

Hey All, we made it to Guangzhou the day before yesterday and it is sticky HOT!!!
The plane ride getting here was crazy not due to anything with the flight or finding our guide, but to the fact that Gary and I are just crazy to bring 4 kids on this trip. Gavin was confused as to what was going on, and to my knowledge he had never been on a plane before or even used a seat belt which made him mad.
The other three were just mad because we were headed to yet another Chinese city and not headed for home.
We found our hotel and wandered around to explore just before a HUGE storm hit. Thunder/lightning and some of the worse rain Gary and I have ever seen. It even delayed a flight for one of the families we are now with for 9hrs.
Gavin had his first of two medical appointments yesterday and did sooo well.
He did get seven shots (6 vac. and 1 TB test) and we only saw one tear from him. There were a few more from mama. We also met the other families from our group and everyone seems so nice. One family even lives just a few hours from us back at home. Last night we met up with two of the families for burgers. Yes I said burgers, we found Lucy's American restaurant. It was your basic hamburger, but it was so good.
Gavin is responding well to his new name. We started calling him his Chinese name and we must have been saying it wrong because he did not respond to it.  He is also saying please, thank you, Levi, LuLu, no and motorcycle in English. He says A LOT in Mandarin, he is such a chatter box. He doesn't seem to get to frustrated with us for not understanding. He usually just laughs and moves on. We taught him to knuckle bump and he does it proudly now. He also does this fake cry thing that is so funny and the funny part is that he knows he is not fooling anyone because he just giggles about it. The hard part is when he does it in public and everyone looks at us like "What are those Americans doing to that Chinese boy to make him cry".
We are less then a week from bringing this little guy home and can't wait. Please pray for all of us as we get ready to do that long trip back with a three year old.
Also Gavin is coming down with a cold. I think it is from the hot humid weather outside and then the air conditioning turned on high in the hotel.
Until my next post, Blessings
Marla

Oh my...that fake cry!! Evan too!! It's so pathetic, and when we'd just look at him and tell him to stop, you could almost see him trying to figure out what he could do next. :0) Ah, the musings of a 3 year old! Don't know about you guys, but Evan did everything he possibly could to test the boundaries. It's amazing how three year olds are pretty much the same even in China!

The plane ride home went shockingly well...I hope it does for you guys as well!

Hey marla, I ask almost EVERYONE on my e-mail ist to be praying for a smooth trip home.:):) We WILL BE THERE WAITING FOR SURE..
Once your third blog got on, I sent everyone on FB a message to see... Sounds like the three older are getting tired and ready to come home. Can't say as I blame them, even though it is a chance in a life time to be there. There's just "no place like home".
I love the green shirt on Gavin. He looks great in that color. I want to get him an outfit, but will wait to find out what size. Will keep posting. love to all mom
