Home study paperwork finally sent off!!!

First off, we apologize for not updating this blog for so long. It seems like we have been drowning in paperwork.

The home study paperwork completion is our 1st big milestone. Completing the home study means gathering the following papers including:
  • 9 different criminal checks ( FBI, state, local) with fingerprints.
  • Medical for the entire family, the kids all got some shots! OUCH!
  • 7 or 8 legal documents required, mostly between the agency and us
  • reference letters from 6 people who know us. Friend, pastor, relative etc...
  • Financial papers verifying employment, income and financial status
  • Personal profile. 55 pages of very detailed essay style questions for each adult. NOT FUN
  • Guardianship statement. Who is responsible should Marla and I meet our maker. Thanks Troy and Marg.
  • Birth certificates and passport for each of us
  • Copies of Marriage certificate, last years federal tax return, drivers licences, social security cards.
  • Letter from the vet and immunization record for all pets.
  • Photo's of the house and family
  • Proof of insurance: Auto, health, life, homeowners.

I probably missed something, but as you can see quite a list. Some of these things are a pretty decent project by themselves let alone trying to get them all done at the same time. There are still the visits from a social worker (at least 5 hours of interviews), 10 hours of online classes, and the huge workbook mentioned in the last blog.

After all of that out "Home study" will be completed.

Thanks to everyone who is encouraging and standing by us through this process. Your prayers are appreciated.---Gary
